The “泥老虎” (ní lǎo hǔ), or mud tiger, originated in the early years of the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty. It is a traditional folk art form that has been preserved in China, featuring unique craftsmanship and artistic characteristics. The waist of the mud tiger is connected with cowhide after being broken. When you squeeze the head and tail of the mud tiger, it will make a sound, hence the name soundable mud tiger.
